Verizon now has its own co-branded credit card (with Synchrony): the Verizon Visa Card, which gives cardholders rewards credits they can use toward Verizon purchases or toward credits toward their monthly cell phone bill.

How Does Verizon Trade In Work:the Pros And Cons
Personally, I tend to stick with cards that transfer points that can be used for travel or cash back (such as Chase Ultimate Rewards®). On the other hand, the Verizon Visa Card essentially gives Verizon customers cash back, which can help them save money on things like cell phone bills.
4% back on products is 4X Membership Rewards points on the American Express® Gold Card. However, I think you can get the best use out of Membership Rewards points. Again, the annual fee for Amex Gold is $250.
The current welcome offer is a $100 wireless credit for 24 months (that’s about $4.16 per month) when you use your Verizon Visa card to pay your monthly Verizon Wireless bill.
But keep this in mind: New members of Verizon’s AutoPay feature can get up to $10 a month off an eligible account or line (up to 10 lines) on select plans.
Verizon Replaces Its Rewards Program With Something Good!
Here’s a cool travel benefit: The card comes with two free TravelPass days per calendar year. This will save you $20 on international cell phone usage (in select countries) when traveling outside the US.
Note: Verizon Wireless accounts with more than 10 phone lines and prepaid accounts cannot request a Verizon Visa card.
For travelers, I don’t think this is the best card. You may be better off using Chase Ultimate Rewards® or American Express® Membership Rewards® products, which can be used to earn more than one percent in points. But the benefits of autopay are very tempting.
Cashback People who hate annual fee cards (and are Verizon customers) might want to consider the Verizon Visa card.

When you sign up for cell phone or Internet service with Verizon Mobile, the company runs a credit check. This credit check helps Verizon assess your ability to pay for the phone or plan you choose.
By doing this check, Verizon determines how much they can charge for a security deposit and assesses whether you can sustainably pay for their service. Credit checks are a precautionary measure for Verizon to minimize potential losses if customers do not pay their bills.
A strict credit check occurs when a lender obtains your credit report with your permission to assess your creditworthiness when you apply for a new loan. This can include auto loans, credit cards, home loans or increasing your existing line of credit.
Multiple hard credit checks over a period of time known as a trading period (usually 14-45 days) can temporarily affect your credit scores. The impact is usually minor, resulting in a reduction of less than 5 points. However, a few hard inquiries can drop your credit score by 10 points or more.

Yes, Verizon includes a solid credit check as part of the credit evaluation process. When signing up for Verizon’s pay-as-you-go plans that require a monthly deposit, the company runs a solid credit check. However, prepaid plans do not require a serious credit check. Verizon performs these checks because cellular service may appear more expensive than landline service.
By conducting accurate credit inquiries, Verizon evaluates your current debt, payment history, credit account limits, delinquent accounts and overall financial stability. This assessment helps them determine the risk associated with your account and calculate the required collateral.
It’s a quick and convenient online process that only takes a few minutes. It is important to provide accurate and complete information during the online process to ensure an effective credit check.
In rare cases, additional documentation may be required, which may extend the length of the credit check. However, such cases are rare and usually occur when there are problems verifying your identity or problems with the information you have provided.
Scam Warning: Verizon Customers Are Getting Mysterious Texts From Themselves
Verizon does not charge extra for a credit check. You will only need to pay for the services you have chosen. A credit check is a standard part of the application process for Verizon services and is used to assess your ability to pay for their services.
In some cases, Verizon approves applications from people with bad credit. However, the service deposit will be much higher for people with bad credit than for people with good credit.
For applicants with bad credit, approval depends on their specific credit score. If your credit score is too low, Verizon may not qualify you for their services. However, those with credit scores above 600-650 will have an easier time getting Verizon service, and those with scores above 650-700 may not need to pay a deposit.
Verizon does not check your credit online to upgrade your device. However, they do an internal credit check before allowing you to upgrade your device. To increase your chances of approval, it’s important to maintain a positive credit standing by paying your bills on time and resolving any outstanding debts.
